Ugh, Homestyle, how did you get through the last year? Watching everyone get their schollys is killing me, and I'm sure it'll only get worse as everyone starts making plans to move to Chicago, starts attending classes, etc. Part of me wants to email Johann, "Changed my mind! I want to start this year instead!"
I'll be the one seething with jealousy at ASW in a couple of weeks.

Step 2) Be super super happy to just be admitted
Step 3) Prepare self to either a) rely on LRAP b) go 200k in debt
Step 4) Rock in fetal position in corner repeating "I'm just so happy to get in"
Step 5) Compare ratio of employers at NU's OCI to local Tier 1 (who also gave no $) = 10:1
Step 6) Be happy that, odds are in your favor of landing a decent job from NU.
That's more or less how I handled it...I also made a baby, so was kind of delirious about that which helped

You should email everyone in the admissions office at once. I heard that works really well.homestyle28 wrote:congrats scholly folks! I can't believe having my mom call didn't score me some cash, sheesh, I hope gran-gran doesn't strike out too!

That would be awesome, but then they'd be like, "we have 2k of your money chump! (Deferred student = 3 seat deposits over the year). So good luck and enjoy cooley."Bumi wrote:You should email everyone in the admissions office at once. I heard that works really well.homestyle28 wrote:congrats scholly folks! Hey, they gave me 120k the day after my birthday, so maybe you'll have similar luck. Assuming you're accepting belated gifts...forward wrote:Thanks for nothing so far, Northwestern. Happy Birthday to me.

They're apparently going in order of amounts, so the day after my birthday might be hardly anything. Ugh. Not in a good mood now.tipler4213 wrote:Hey, they gave me 120k the day after my birthday, so maybe you'll have similar luck. Just got email, 10k year for 3 years, I was coming anyways and this was pretty unexpected, so woo! The letter specifically said my award was both merit and need based (i.e. I have a kid and am poor).
