I didn't receive an email either, so am feeling very stoked (but also split). My understanding is that most of the deferral emails come out on the same day; all the rejections come out at once via email....and then acceptances in the mail. Which probably means that we're either accepted or rejected, but not deferred. Knocking on every piece of wood (while studying for Finals #2 and #3...)

With your numbers I think you're in better shape than not.

I'm assuming they wouldn't dump half the deferment emails on a Friday evening then come back to work on Monday and send the rest? So I think at this point it's all or nothing.

I sure hope not! I'm really fearful that I'll be in some batch of "oops, we forgot to send these deferral emails"...I'd rather just get a plain old yes or no before my Property final (just because I'd like some peace of mind).

No deferral email (I've checked every email address and spam folder because I'm paranoid). Haven't signed up for the tracker. Status checker is unchanged.

Why would they only send out deferral emails instead of just sending out all notifications (deferral/deny/accept) by email and mail on the same day?

Well if they did drop acceptances in the mail last night, it's possible usps didnt even pick them up until this morning, so they wouldn't be in today's mail.

Doesnt explain the lack of denial emails though.

Denials are a week after letters usually.

Well, if you're in their GPA target for respective tier, based on previous threads, hard to imagine an outright denial coming you're way.

They do, but it seems pretty rare. I’ve only seen a handful in past threads get rejected.

I'm sure there's a fair amount of self-selection in this process. Nobody applies EA if they don't think they have at least a shot.

I really wish the 509 reports showed more info. GULC's GPA range is higher than NYU, which I'd have to attribute to the EA process. But I wish we got something to indicate number of applicants.

So I’m planning on running the numbers on this later this week—because school’s out and the internship doesn’t start for a month, what on earth else am I supposed to do with all this time?—and I’ll let you know what I find, but my sense is that the surprising disparity between GULC and NYU re transfer GPA has more to do with the kinds of schools they admit students from, i.e., just by eyeballing it looks like the median NYU transfer is from a school in the 40’s, whereas with GULC its the 80’s or 90’s.

There could also be other funky things going on from the schools they tend to admit transfer students from, i.e., does Fordham curve lower than American? I have no idea, but it actually seems kind of interesting. I’ll let you know what I find.

Currently go to GULC and transferred here. Wanted to check in and just let you all know that coming to GULC as a transfer was a colossal mistake and if I could go back in time I would have either gone to any other school I was accepted to or would not have transferred at all. Happy to answer questions via dm to avoid potentially outing myself here.

Seriously, please think twice about your motivation to go through with this. Many of you have good enough grades at good enough schools to get the same outcome you would get out of GULC for far less money and far less stress.
