Are you a current Cornell Law student? If so, are you a transfer student or were your accepted as a 1L? Lastly, do you know the experiences of any transfer students at Cornell? How competitive is it to get in as a transfer? Are transfers allowed to participate in OCI? How about Law Review?

I was admitted as a 1L and honestly don’t really know the answers to those questions. Writing competition already happened though at the end of the semester so it’s safe to say that transfers at this point can’t participate in Law Review

If I’m correct, transfers also don’t participate in OCI, correct?

Also, Biglaw firms seek students that have been involved with some type of preeminent journal, right?

Any transfers at Cornell willing and able to answer some specific questions?

What's the orientation/community like for transfer students given that Cornell accepts so few transfers? I heard one year it accepted less than five transfer students, which might give some pause given that a big part of eliminating that 'transfer stigma' is that so many (like at GULC 90-100) are going into it together?

Also if you check this site you will see a historic trend of cornell not allowing participation in the job fair that matters, the August Job Fair. Why? Well, students have already bid on firms and found out where they are interviewing. If you are accepted now, it would be hard for you to get in on that in any way since the interview slots are filled.

The boston and DC fairs might be open for transfers, but there are only 5 firms at each. The actual "OCI" at cornell hosted on campus only has upstate firms and does not have biglaw firms. You could probably also participate in this.

This information is essential to know as I am highly interested in Biglaw, and I want to attend a law school that will open up those opportunities as I will be a transfer student. Does anyone know anything about NYU, Columbia, or UPenn being transfer friendly? How about OCI for transfers at these schools?

If you are an 0L, the best bet is to retake and try to go to one of these schools from the start

That makes perfect sense. It seems that transfers aren't given the "full" law school experience in regards to equal opportunities within the law school.

Congratulations on your acceptance! First, Were you waitlisted, interviewed, or admitted without having to submit any supplemental info? Second, besides being in the top 10%, did you participate in any extracurriculars? If so, which ones? Lastly, what advice do you give those who desire a competitive application? Basically, what is Cornell looking for in a competitive/successful application?

Straight acceptance, no wait list. I did interview (and they specifically ask in the interview not to share anything about the format or the question content, so I will respect that and stay silent).

I did moot court and law review. Seems like everything in law school is curricular, not much "extra" - no gunner bandcamp or cheer squad. Maybe student body office, but I didn't do that stuff. I am sure that more is better here. I had some moot court wins and best speaker type awards too.

I have no advice to give on what they want to see, beyond what they say they want on their webpage for transfers. Regardless of what I thought of my personal statement, work experience, etc. they may have had entirely different thoughts. All I did was submit the app, wait a few weeks after it completed, then answer the acceptance phone call.

Sorry I can't be of more help than that, sounds like what your asking is more geared towards the app a 0L would make and I can't speak to that for Cornell.
