Berkeley 2020 Transfer Thread
Couldn't find one of these yet so my apologies if there already is one.
Has anyone heard any news from Berkeley yet?

Re: Berkeley 2020 Transfer Thread
I received an email and the status checker shows it too. I think it changed a few days after I sent in the my remaining materials.
They never requested my rank and it was not available when I sent everything in. Do you think that's a problem? Did you all send yours in?

I emailed my rank to admissions when I sent them a screenshot of my transcript. I think it's worth doing to give them a more accurate representation of what your gpa means. Then again, they may have access to that kind of information anyway.

Re: Berkeley 2020 Transfer Thread
Makes sense. Somewhere on their site says that successful applicants are usually from the top 10% of their class, and I ended up coming in at 12% from a T2 school. I'm hesitant to send in case it hurts my application. But then again, so could my gpa (3.646) which is already pretty low compared to previous transfer stats.Lolstudent wrote:I emailed my rank to admissions when I sent them a screenshot of my transcript. Now that it's under review already, think I should update them?

Re: Berkeley 2020 Transfer Thread
It sounds like it would hurt you more than help you. It isn't like you are withholding something that they couldn't find out by asking you or your school. Because you don't have a duty to disclose this, I wouldn't give them the rank unless they ask.weegsy77 wrote:Makes sense. Admissions are such a crapshoot, especially transfer admissions. And Berkeley is known as being a "black box" and looking past low numbers and also turning down applicants with high numbers. I guess you could say they are predictably unpredictable.
Good luck!

Everyone heard on June 29th last year. One batch of emails at exactly the same time.Questions123 wrote:I went through last year's thread and it looked like people started hearing back on June 20th (which I believe was a Monday last year)!Lolstudent wrote:Wow, really? Re: Berkeley 2020 Transfer Thread
Went under review on 6/15. 3.6 (Top 11%) at a TTTT. 2 Witkins and 3 CALIs. 2 LORs from professors at my current school. Prior military then later a police officer. Moved to California to pursue a custodial relationship with my daughter who lives near Berkeley.
Desperately waiting. I want it bad.

4.0 at T1 (mid 30s) w/ strong CA ties. Hopefully they start sending decisions out soon, the wait is killing me

Hoping for my sanity's sake that we hear back today or tomorrow. That would line up with last year's timeline.

It would be nice to hear before the holiday, that's for sure. Although the transfer admissions process moves much faster than the regular admissions cycle, it almost feels worse because we will have so little time to uproot our lives and move (for those who would have to move).
