Anonymous Posting

2018 Transfers

Just finished my first semester at a bottom tier 2 law school in Chicago! Looking forward to getting my grades back and seeing what are my options.

Does anyone know what the transfer process is like? Do people still have to interview, do school visits, etc.? I'm interested in HLS, NYU, Columbia, Georgetown (super transfer friendly), USC, UofC, Northwestern, Cal, and UCLA (maybe UT Austin). How do Cali awards factor into admissions? Also, which schools give transfers scholarship money?

Yeah this is one of the most premature posts I've ever seen. I hope you do well OP, but you just jinxed the shit out of yourself.

As everyone said, this is incredibly premature. To answer your questions though, CALI's are definitely good (obviously), but realize a lot of people applying to transfer will probably have them, so don't expect it to really mean all that much. Transfers don't get money at the new school aside from aid and some schools do have an interview for transfer admissions. Just to give you an idea of what you'll need in terms of grades for those schools you listed (aside from gtown which is pretty easy), you should be shooting for at least top 10%.

Yes, OP, I'm afraid you have to come back once you have grades. As for your questions...there is a lot of info already available in this forum, so you can read up while you're waiting for grades to come in.
