TTT to ??

Post by Anonymous User » Sun May 28, 2017 6:40 pm

Hello! I ended up doing pretty well this year and am in a place where I could potentially transfer. I'm ranked 15th at my tier 3 which is about top 14% with a 3.41 GPA. I like my school and intended just to apply to transfer to leverage my 80% scholarship into a fullride, but looking at things has opened my eyes a bit. I'm from the market my school is in, but it is a regional market at best and I don't love the idea of being here forever. Goals wise, I think I could be happy doing a lot of things but Government work has always had my eye. I'd like to be in D.C. or Chicago in the future, so my question is, would transferring be a good idea? How high would in the rankings is attainable or should I shoot for? Thanks!

Edit: Forgot to add I was offered Law Review (even though I reallllly don't want to do it).

Being in the top 15% at a T3 is unlikley to open doors at most of the T14. Furthermore, transfers don't get schollys so you'll be paying full price. Assuming you're perfectly willing to pay full price I'd say apply to Georgetown and then the rest of the schools in like the Top 22. Georgetown is a long shot and like a T25 is probably likely.

Emory will probs take you also.

Thanks, that's about what I've surmised from the 509 reports. I'm not really big law or die but my main concern is having the ability to practice in an area that is not defined by the borders of the state i'm in. My ideal schools is a school in Chicago that doesn't exist that is much better than Loyola but more accessible than NW. Where I'm at now I wouldn't hate to stay if they upped me to 100% but I think moving into the top 25 is something you have to consider no matter what. I'll be operating in a holding pattern right now, I just think you owe it to yourself to see what is out there.

You should have a great shot at WUSTL. It's not in Chicago but it could get you there. Try ND as well.
