How important is it to do the writing contest at one's old school( so can put on resume invitation extended for law review) if planning on transferring?

If you're already into a transfer school where you would go for sure, then maybe you don't need to do it. Conventional wisdom is to do the competition at your old school in case you don't grade on and then also don't get into a school you would transfer to.

FWIW, even though it sucked doing two writing comps in a summer, doing my 1L comp was good practice for the transfer comp at my new school.
