T2 (50-60) to UT

Post by vfl » Tue Mar 21, 2017 2:46 pm

Looking to transfer to UT, and I plan to submit my application as early as possible, but it does not open until May 1. First semester grades, 3.38 (top 18%) what are my chances looking like? Thanks in advance!

They've been scaling back their transfer class since their first big class (2013 transfers for c/o 2015), but I'd say (especially if you're at Baylor/UH) you're in pretty solid shape, but you could really nut it with improvements this semester. In the past, UT would want to hear why you want to transfer there (as opposed to why transfer generally), so if it's UT where you want to be, you should definitely customize that and don't be afraid to use personal reasons, so long as they're not frivolous.

Not a guarantee but have a decent chance. As the poster said above, UT scaled back their transfer class size and is likely to continue that trend.

I got in before May 1st last year so I'd keep double checking that. UT could be changing the process as I know they are, indeed, scaling back on transfers (especially with the jump into the T14 which will keep more students at UT). Make sure your essay is very UT specific and that your reasons for making the transfer are more compelling than "I want a big law job that pays me a lot of money..."
