Does anyone have any idea whether the interview is a good sign or not?

I know Northwestern interviews almost, if not all, applicants, however, I have never heard of such a thing for U of C. Being an eternal pessimist, I assumed the interview request signaled a fringe candidate. I know they have a new dean of admissions, so even last year's interview data may not be relevant.

Well my significant other attends U of C already... and I was told that they are trying to interview more students because in the past U of C has been known to have socially awkward students and they are trying to make a conscious effort to change that. Also his orientation was like 2 weeks long and they made him go on an overnight retreat to get to know his classmates and be social. He was interviewed and most of his classmates were also interviewed. So I'd say its most likely a good thing, but I am not sure just how many they interview.

My understanding is that the trend is to only interview candidates they are considering, and to interview (almost) all of them. I think it's a good sign!

Does anyone know the typical amount of students they select for ED compared to regular transfer admissions?

Been lurking for awhile thought I'd make an account; had my interview, but I don't think it went well at all; interviewer was unfriendly essentially from the start; am I cooked? Anyone know if the interview is the final cut?

Interviewer was unfriendly/annoyed from the beginning, and only seemed to get more so as the interview went on, it seemed like he/she kept glancing at his/her watch, and it was far from conversational...although to be honest from the time I signed on his/her demeanor made it seem like I didn't have a chance

That's shitty I'm sorry. Hopefully it won't affect your application that much!
