View/Input Transfer Stats

When I was a 1L, the only transfer data available was on the yahoo group. If you've ever seen that data, then you know it has lots of holes and doesn't mandate inputting extra information like region. Hopefully this will help future potential transfers, since it attempts to fix those deficiencies.

Input your stats here: Input Form

Since you can't update, I am going to delete any posts that haven't finished their cycle.

Example Questions:

GPA
Ranking
Current School
Region of Current School
UG GPA
LSAT
Work Experience
Possibly Source of Rec Letters
Residency

Also, as many of the above questions as possible would be answered through a multiple choice question. That way everything has an identical format.

Here is a starting point: Google Form

BTW, don't input any information. If this will actually be used, I want to make sure it is in the ideal format before data entry starts.

This is awesome!!!! When do you think it will be live?

Once I receive suggestions on how to perfect it. Once I have the suggestions, it will be live in less than an hour.

Example: Help me out with a list of softs to put on the survey in checklist form. Things like extracurriculars and CALIs.

Good idea, looks great. I would consider adding a question for transfer year though. That way past transfers can input their data and we can get a broader statistical base while also seeing transfer admission trends.

Love it! Maybe add date that application went complete and date that decision was rendered? Possibly the medium in which the decision was transmitted as well (i.e. email, phone, dove with a letter, etc.)

1. In the "Class Rank" drop box, I think you should have top 1% & top 3% categories. These small differences will be relevant when someone attempts to transfer up from a TT, TTT, or TTTT.

2. in the "Current School Rank" drop box, the fifth and sixth categories should be UCLA/UT/Vandy/USC and 19-30, respectively.

Good work. I agree the Yahoo Transfer group has lost its legs a bit.

I suggest a Letter of Rec Section:

Number of Letters of Rec: (1/2/3/4)
Any Targeted Letters: List Which Schools:
Letter from Doctrinal Professor? (Yes/No)
Letter from LRW Professor? (Yes/No)
Letter from Previous Work Experience (Yes/No)
Letter from U-Grad Professor (Yes/No)
Other: List.

Also a softs section Checklist:
Number of Book Awards (0/1/2/3/4/5/6).
A Journal in your 1L year (Yes/No).
Previous Career/Real Work Experience for 5Plus Years. (Yes/No)
Previous MA or equivilant.(Yes/No)
Previous PHD or equivilant. (Yes/No)
Previous work at a law firm. (Yes/No)
Previous political work.(Yes/No)
Moot Court your 1L year: (Yes/No)
Science or Math Backround: (Yes/No)
Art Backround (Yes/No)
Went to Law School Straight from Undergrad. (Yes/No).

That list isn't necessarily all a soft, but might be good to have some data on. I wouldn't include sections with dates and how you got the acceptance, would make the form overly complicated / messy to fill out.

good stuff from skyblaze. only suggestion I have would be to break down the journal stuff. one option for LR and another for secondary journals.

Also, what about adding some OCI stuff? I know there is some OCI stuff somewhere in the yahoo group, but I think it is pretty dated.

Ok, please input your stats.

BTW, this is for post-transfer data.

I don't know if it makes more sense to do it as a separate form as part of the transfer one.

On transferapps there is a database with the following info: school transferred to, school transferred from, gpa/rank at old school, honors at new school, other info, bids, screeners, call backs, offers, notes.

I think a separate form would be better.

You should change book award to highest grade in the class award....there are CALI's AMJUR's etc.

I was under the impression that "Book Awards" was the TLS unnoficial terminology for all Highest Grade in the class awards. As in you "booked" the class. Am I wrong? Seems like each school has a different name for them, so maybe "Award for Highest Grade in the Class" would be less ambigious. Also, I forgot to include URM in the softs!

Also, this is a fantasitc idea! Thanks for putting it together!

If there is any confusion whatsoever I will change it. I want the data to be as beneficial as possible.

I apologize to the 3.97 from New York. Post at the end of your cycle.

For now, I need to find a way to get a bunch of transfer TLSers to post their stats here.

Hmmm. If you're collecting past data, you will want to change "current school" to "former school"

drmguy - filled out my form, but it sent before I finished the "acceptance method" question. PM me if you want to add the stats for the rest of my schools.
