Also, if there was a way to incorporate the yahoo database into this new one that would be awesome. More data points FTW.
This should be stickied if it catches on.

Can you adjust it so if you click on one of the headings it list in some form of order? As in if you click on former school's rank, it groups the people by the school rank? Similar to yahoo transfer group

Google docs doesn't allow that. When I have some time, I'll look into a possible alternative website.IsTheFatLadySinging wrote:Can you adjust it so if you click on one of the headings it list in some form of order? Actually, I have a very un-user friendly idea. I can open up the main form to public viewing, and a viewer can copy-paste the data into their own sheet to gain control over order etc.
Once storing the data on one page becomes overwhelming, I will create more sheets that do just what you are asking.

I hereby suggest a sticky.
If any of the Yahoo data were added we might have the danger of double counting people.

I'll add the yahoo data when I have time. I'll just keep the two separated.

Is there anything wrong with me going on a PMing rampage to encourage transfers to submit their information?

Could be helpful to include field for "what are you doing this summer" e.g. V20 firm, V100 firm, PI, etc.

Re: Alternative to the Yahoo Transfer Group
Did you mean qualify for journal or actually participate? Does qualifying for journal make a difference?Skyblaze wrote:I suggest a Letter of Rec Section:
Number of Letters of Rec: (1/2/3/4)
Any Targeted Letters: List Which Schools:
Letter from Doctrinal Professor? (Yes/No)
Letter from LRW Professor? (Yes/No)
Letter from Previous Work Experience (Yes/No)
Letter from U-Grad Professor (Yes/No)
Other: List.
Also a softs section Checklist:
Number of Book Awards (0/1/2/3/4/5/6).
A Journal in your 1L year (Yes/No).
Previous Career/Real Work Experience for 5Plus Years. (Yes/No)
Previous MA or equivilant.(Yes/No)
Previous PHD or equivilant. (Yes/No)
Previous work at a law firm. (Yes/No)
Previous political work.(Yes/No)
Moot Court your 1L year: (Yes/No)
Science or Math Backround: (Yes/No)
Art Backround (Yes/No)
Went to Law School Straight from Undergrad. (Yes/No).
That list isn't necessarily all a soft, but might be good to have some data on. I wouldn't include sections with dates and how you got the acceptance, would make the form overly complicated / messy to fill out.

It would be nice to be able to categorize the list by tier of school. Possible to add?

I was thinking of doing that, but it might serve primarily as a source of false hope. Take for example a student at school #49/100. They might look at a T1 result from someone who goes to UMinn and get the wrong idea about their chances. I also doubt that admissions committees think Pepperdine and Baylor, spot 49 and spot 51, are on two different levels because the tier difference.lawgrl14 wrote:It would be nice to be able to categorize the list by tier of school. I just submitted, though I had a suggestion even if it's too late.
Success at new school section - Law review/journal, moot court, rank changes, etc.
It appeals to different demographic.

Sure, but then again I'd hope that someone who did well enough in school to be analyzing the spreadsheet like that would also have enough sense to look at both T1 and T2 schools in estimating his chances.drmguy wrote:I was thinking of doing that, but it might serve primarily as a source of false hope. Especially if this thing catches on, it'd be a good, albeit slightly rough, way to categorize people from like schools.

I think "success at new school" isn't standard though and can be based on a lot of outside factors (what classes you took, how easy the adjustment was, etc.).Coolgrnmen wrote:I just submitted, though I had a suggestion even if it's too late.

Success at any school is subjective to some extent. But law journal and moot court would be good benchmarks if not the new rankingkeg411 wrote:I think "success at new school" isn't standard though and can be based on a lot of outside factors (what classes you took, how easy the adjustment was, etc.).Coolgrnmen wrote:I just submitted, though I had a suggestion even if it's too late.

I don't understand how. At most transferee schools you try out for law journal and moot court prior to getting first semester grades.Coolgrnmen wrote:Success at any school is subjective to some extent. Interesting. According to the responses, at least five people (at five different schools) were on law review as 1Ls. I've never heard of a school doing this.
