I've had a pretty good cycle. Pending some major surprises from a couple of schools I'll either be going to Lewis & Clark or Oregon. In-state tuition at Oregon is a hell of a deal!A'nold wrote:Hey! Nice. Oregon seems like a really good school, although they rejected me twice!. Good luck and keep me posted!SamSeaborn2016 wrote:I've had a pretty good cycle. Re: Class Rank Question: Was I Screwed?
This is a fundamental flaw of ranking systems. Statistically speaking, the rank within your section is all that matters. For interviews and whatnot, say that you're ranked #1 in your section. Don't mention the other rank unless asked. That's not being deceitful or dishonest- you were the best out of the people with whom you were competing for grades.A'nold wrote:So, I finished #5 out of 1**, yet I am the #1 student in my section. There are only two sections.....does that mean that the other section had a significantly higher GPA? From what I hear, only 2 or 3 at most of the top 10 students are from my section, most likely only 2.
Also, does anyone think being #1 in your section mean more than just being the #5 student if there are only 2 sections? Thanks.

That's interesting....would you put that solely on your resume then?engineer wrote:This is a fundamental flaw of ranking systems. Edit: on that note, does anyone think the fact that I was the 1st in my section will help me with GULC? Thanks.

I wish I knew my section rank. Although I'm pretty sure I know what it is, I obviously can't report that based on my findings discovered through the law school rumor mill haha.engineer wrote:This is a fundamental flaw of ranking systems. That's good news but on the other hand I kind of wish I had made a bigger deal about it now.
