Just to confirm, are you saying you have all your grades in?

Yes. Someone texted me around 7:30 and told me they were there. I don't know when they showed up.

I used to think that friendo, but after grading your casenotes for the last month, it should be harsher.

How does this work? I assume all or nearly all of you have jobs this summer. We turned in our notes on May 17th. When do you have time to read and grade them?

That's a great question. Notice when my post was last night.

Thankfully, almost done.

So they just hand you your portion of the stack and give you a month or so to go through them? Also, when should we expect to hear back?

My biggest complaint about LARW and the casenote, etc... (though I understand why they do this) is that you can't have anyone else read it. Of course the casenotes you are looking at have problems, because the best writing is usually produced when someone objective gives you feedback.

Yes. And personal statements.

I heard from an exclusive journal on July 22. Non-exclusives can take longer to trickle in.

FIFY.

Also, 4.0 in contracts, from (presumably) the same professor. 8)

1. Grading casenotes was probably one of the most horrible things I've had to do in law school, right up there with general journal work.
2. I want bowling and softball to start ASAP.

How did everyone's bidlists turn out? I'm shocked I managed to convert over 15, but most of those are on just one day.

I'm happy with it. Got all 1-14, plus a couple more. Heavy emphasis on TX and some NC and Chicago, didn't bid NYC or CA. I think I only missed one or two that I would have really liked to have--no complaints here.

OTOH, doing 15+ interviews sounds less fun than root canals. We'll see if I can pretend to be well-adjusted and enthusiastic for that amount of time...

I got 15, and didn't do 30 bids. However a lot of the firms I bid on that were less competitive, I didn't get. So we will see.

Not a big firm fan anyway.

You're going for PI right? It must be nice to have firm jobs as a backup plan. I hear you can accept a firm job while you work on finding a PI slot too.

Btw, the Career Services email mentioned waitlists. Is anyone on a waitlist? I'm either not on any or they aren't showing up--or hell, maybe I don't know where to look.

edit: Everyone's on the waitlists for firms they didn't get. It's one of the drop-down menus on the site.

Check your PMs. How does that compare with last year?

I got 19. What is the "opt-in" option? A waitlist? It's for all the other firms we bid on?

Same. Except I actually did 30 and managed to get some of the seemingly less competitive ones. Seems random.

Firms are a backup as far as I'm concerned.
