Jeffries will likely use the Bonnie/Coughlin/Jeffries/Low casebook, in which case the Low commercial outline is a good supplement.alirod12 wrote:Best supplement for Crim with Jeffries?

If you don't like commercial outlines (I hate them), you can't really go wrong with Dressler's Understanding Criminal Law. Also, you can ask the prof for recommendations.vanwinkle wrote:Jeffries will likely use the Bonnie/Coughlin/Jeffries/Low casebook, in which case the Low commercial outline is a good supplement.alirod12 wrote:Best supplement for Crim with Jeffries?

After a week in Charlottesville, and my first day of classes, I have concluded that while UVA may not the "best" law school in the country. It is undoubtably the greatest.
I love this place

I'm really surprised at how quickly financial aid/refunds are being dispersed. I expected the opposite after hearing some of the stories from last year.

Anyone actually get their refund yet? I signed up for direct deposit, my loans were dispersed early in the week, and I'm in the latter half of the alphabet, but no refund so far.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
Are you like me? I have a line item that says "Refund" on it as of today, and a cleared out account balance, but have yet to actually get any money or be notified of the refund. I'm hoping that something didn't get screwed up w/ the mailing and it'll wind up being sent off elsewhere...badwithpseudonyms wrote:Anyone actually get their refund yet? if they threw a car into the bargain i'd think about it, but i'm pretty happy to be here. also greatly looking forward to tubing tomorrow...if anyone's going next week, i just realized that a waterproof camera would be a great idea, and a disposable one is only like 10 bucks off the internet.plum wrote:totes. i cannot imagine transferring, even if given the chance.jawsthegreat wrote:This place is awesomeplum wrote:i really like it here.

As much as I like all the Professors I can already tell that some possess a teaching style that is a little less, shall we say, sympathetic to the fact that many of us have no idea what's going on. There are some that insist that we take baby steps into legal waters and others that make me feel like I'm drownin' in the goshdarned Los Brazos.
Granted, it's been like, three days so it might not be proper to make generalizations at this point. And to continue the metaphor, there's always the chance that I'm just a terrible swimmer.
In other news, Pennoyer v. Neff can DIAF.

Profs aren't going to hold your hand, and, honestly, they aren't moving as fast as you think they are. Law school is often like a language immersion program, you just have to dive in, and you'll start to get it. Give it time, think about it, and you'll get it. Its ok to be confused right now, and ALL your prof's expect you to be confused.billyez wrote:As much as I like all the Professors I can already tell that some possess a teaching style that is a little less, shall we say, sympathetic to the fact that many of us have no idea what's going on. Dude everybody is lost to a certain extent. Don't worry about it. Which remains confusing after a year. Pennoyer owed Neff a gambling debt so Neff fled to Oregon to get a lawyer, but then his estranged wife...YCrevolution wrote:My first (and only) civpro cold call was on Pennoyer.flyingpanda wrote:Dude everybody is lost to a certain extent.
