It's pretty shitty of any firm not to at least send a pre-formatted e-mail informing you that you are no longer in consideration. It seems like bad business to alienate a bunch of folks who will be practicing in the communities in which you operate.

Any particular firm? Most seem to send a letter or an email if you are rejected.

I've done 15 screeners and received only two ding letters, both via snail mail. Granted, some of those screeners were with smaller firms that haven't decided yet, but others were with really big firms that have already made offers. I would think that once they have started making offers, they are finished doing callbacks. It's not that I'm heartbroken or unable to read silence as a ding, but an act of common courtesy that would take only a few seconds to complete doesn't seem like too much to ask.

They aren't finished, though. Not all of those students who got offers will accept, but I think they have 28 days to decide. So you could be a second-round pick and they just haven't to you yet.

Yeah, I guess it could be cheaper for a firm to do a round of callbacks and then make offers on those callbacks. If its need is met, there would be no need for more callbacks. If not, they could then pay for more callbacks.

Nope. I'm glad you mentioned it, though. I was starting to wonder if I dreamt that whole thing up.

I guess the interviewer wasn't impressed by the fact that I didn't wear socks. Fail.

It was so quiet this week on the OCI front, has anyone heard anything new? I know Baker Botts sent out offers. Does anyone know if Greenberg Traurig has sent out any offers?

Does anyone who has had Mayo, Thornburg, Gaba, Taylor, or Palacios have any old exams I could get a copy of? Or recommendations of places I can get them?

I'm assuming you already browsed the lame exam index they keep on the main floor of the library?

You can also try to go to your professors office and ask them. This didn't work for me but you might as well try. If they say no, just ask them ways they would recommend getting some early complex hypo practice or ask them the general nature of their exams so you can maybe try to find similar ones.

I used to browse this thread for some other school's exams. Not super helpful, but if you really can't find your professor's old exams and/or he won't make any available right now, its worth browsing. Most of them are PWP, but a few aren't.

also maybe this thread too: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12526

The library will not make the newer exams available until November. I asked, and bitched. They refuse.

Nothing like looking at the bio of the guy who does the hiring at a firm and seeing Yale undergrad, Stanford law (Order of the Coif and EIC of Law Review), LLM from NYU, and two federal appellate clerkships.

Might as well just go ahead and auto-reply with "You suck".

That guy is weak sauce, none of his schools have 3 Fortune 50 CEOs.

That's like having Crespi doing the hiring.

When SMU law started bragging so much at orientation about all of their alumni who had become so successful in business, it should have been a sign that those of us looking for lawyer jobs might be in trouble lol

I have old Palacios exams somewhere that I can try to dig up. Her multiple choice questions are verbatim the questions she asks in class. Don't be a wimp, write them down. Trust me, a lot of people had them last year.

I think I also have old Gaba exams, but his exams are really straight forward.

Attention potential employers:

If you want me to write a cover letter for your job, then don't include the warning that the job will not lead to permanent employment.

I don't really understand what the point of them posting a job if it isn't for future employment. Is it so they feel better about themselves because they had "summer associates?" Is it because they have a crap load of just awful menial work that they don't want to touch with a ten foot pole? Is it really for long term employment, but they don't want to get yelled at when the summer is over and they no hire almost everyone?
