Damn. What classes did you take Kalvano? That seems rediculously fast to be getting grades back. You weren't in BE, Evidence, Int law, or ADR were you? Lol.

Alright, it's that time of year again. Post something when your financial aid starts to hit.

Re: SMU Class of 2013/2014
Last year we got it around January 10th right?
I might as well start waiting for my financial aid right because no telling when my grades will be posted. I haven't got the first one back yet.

Re: SMU Class of 2013/2014
I called enrollment services Tuesday afternoon to confirm that the finaid would be dispersed on the third, like access says. "Kelly" told me that they absolutely would and that I would receive an email confirmation between 6pm and midnight that the funds had hit my SMU account.
Not surprisingly, nothing has changed in access and I have not received notice that the funds have been dispersed. I will call tomorrow and let you guys know what they have to say about it.
The "no later than 14 days from the first class day" rule that they always cite regarding when the funds will potentially hit your bank account seems disconcerting to me. I'm fine with notions of personal responsibility, budgeting correctly and the like...but it just seems like, if the amount we're given per semester is calculated to be the amount we'll need in living expenses for those 5 months, then you would presume we'd be out of money before the beginning of the following semester and it stands to reason that we'll need each semester's finaid BEFORE we go to buy books, etc. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

The "no later than 14 days" is just a way for Stan Eddy to continue being a worthless, overpaid, lazy jackass, and for SMU to continue their antiquated system of taking three times as long to do things as other schools do.

Re: SMU Class of 2013/2014
I've called everyday since the third asking why the finaid hasn't dispersed yet. Everyday they've told me that there were some "technical" issues which they hadn't forseen and the funds would disperse that evening. So, I called this morning and a very understanding, competent sounding individual sincerely apologized to me, told me the funds would disperse today, and that they would begin refunding tomorrow. I want to believe him, but that's pretty much what I've been told since the scheduled disbursment date. So we'll see what happens.

I wonder if they realize how many fewer phone calls they would get if they simply sent out a mass email explaining what was going on.

On a different note, if anyone needs an Edited Writing class, International Crimes with Turner opened a few spots, and she's an awesome professor.

My $$ applied to my account on access, but it hasn't been disbursed yet.

Yeah, I'm assuming that's the case for just about everyone right now. I called Friday afternoon and they told me that they "had started entering refunds and that they were staying to work on them over the weekend." Hopefully, they'll be done by Monday.

So do the rank percentiles usually stay steady, drop, or get higher as we go through 2L and 3L?

I think GPA cutoffs tend to drift higher. As students take smaller classes which generally lack fixed grade distributions, each individual GPA tends to increase.kalvano wrote:So do the rank percentiles usually stay steady, drop, or get higher as we go through 2L and 3L?

I've seen that. But I mean the year-to-year cutoffs within a specific class. I guess what I am looking for is a breakdown of the class of 2010, what the cutoffs were for 1L, then 2L, and then 3L.
