Assuming median grades, how badly will the lack of WE hurt when looking for a job? Too broad a question?

If you do, you're probably still better off with Northwestern since you want to work in the midwest, and you may like Evanston more than the city of Berkeley.

Don't feel bad, I made this mistake with the NU interviewer. Needless to say, don't think I left the best impression.

With those choices and your aims, I'd choose Northwestern, with Duke in second place.

This rarely, if ever, happens with Berk's matching programs. Unless the OP demonstrates extreme financial need, I seriously doubt Berk will come close to matching. There have even been cases where they have offered nothing against a significant T14 offer.
