gulc vs. nyu
in at both, decent money on both sides. when i applied, nyu was the dream, but now i have been thinking hard about DC and that i might prefer to live there.
nyu is ranked considerably higher than gulc... should i care about this?
any thoughts on how the schools differ, or which type should go to which?
thanks,
nicki

Re: gulc vs. nyu
For myself, I'd take NYU over Georgetown in almost every situation, especially if the scholarship offers are comparable. Living in NYC for a few years has long been a dream of mind, though what I've heard as the ultra-liberal attitude of NYU is a slight turn-off.
More recently I have been coming to the conclusion that I'd probably want to work in DC later in life, but I can't imagine that Georgetown would do that much better than NYU in DC placement.

NYU. Better job prospects all around. Will still be able to get you to DC if you want.

I heard GULC OCI was pretty brutal. I would think long and hard about turning down NYU.

As an NYU student currently in DC, I advise you that DC is an insufferable swamp, and no one should have to live here.

Unless GULC is offerring considerably more $ than NYU, I'd go with NYU.

NYC>DC
NYU>GULC
Seriously, picking GULC here would be a poor choice, unless you have some seriously compelling personal reason (spouse who cannot leave job, sick parent, etc...)

The ONLY reason to go to GULC over NYU.... doesn't exist.
Georgetown is a great school, and people in DC love it. However, recruiters know that NYU is the real deal. NYU will get you into DC if you want. The only advantage georgetown has is a part-time program if you want to work for the government or something while going to school, and they apparently do pretty well with JAG.

This is only partially true. You're going to need good grades at either school to have a real shot at working in DC (at least at a firm). But, if your grades aren't great, you'll be much better off (in terms of non-DC jobs) at NYU than G'town.doublehoya0509 wrote:The ONLY reason to go to GULC over NYU.... doesn't exist.
