Re: Emory Class of 2013!
We got quiet... Everybody gone for the long weekend?
Only 2 1/2 months left! I'm dying to tell work that I'm leaving! (Don't want to join the Facebook group until I give notice - just in case.) Heading to ATL in 2 weeks to look for lodging.
I'm an Emory college grad from several years ago, so fire away with any campus-related questions you might have.

How is the gym on campus? How busy does it get?aviddave wrote:We got quiet... Everybody gone for the long weekend?

How bike-friendly is the campus? I'm thinking about biking from whatever parking lot I'll have to park in 1L. I'm guessing it would be wise to keep away from Clifton, given the narrow lanes and how busy it can get.
Thanks!

They just re-did it recently, but it was always very busy when I was around. You'll likely find that the early mornings are crazy there - and you'll need to adjust your workout around schedule classes.UFMatt wrote: How is the gym on campus? How busy does it get?
Well... How do you handle hills? I used to bike across campus all the time though. Heading south (from the parking deck toward the law school) is uphill - but when you're tired after class you can coast downhill. Yes - be careful on Clifton - it is very narrow, and students don't really look out for bikes.UFMatt wrote: How bike-friendly is the campus? I am looking for a roommate. I attended Emory undergrad and currently live in Atlanta, so I am familiar with the area. If you are interested, send me a message.

Thanks for the info, AvidDave. I'll probably be working out in the evening and will try to avoid Clifton with my bike, if possible.

Re: Emory Class of 2013!
Is the anticipation killing anyone else?
I'm quite excited for school to start. Nailed down the housing (a tenth of a mile from school!) -- home rentership, how satisfying! Now I'm just ready to quit my job and move to ATL. I'll be getting there around August 1st and I'm hoping that some of you will be down for a little exploration of our new city. I was very pleasantly surprised by Atlanta and the surrounding neighborhoods. Decatur has some great haunts -- The Brick Store Pub is fantastic. Not only does it have very well executed pub food, but it has a phenomenal beer list that is treated more like a good wine list. And there are many other great areas too -- Virginia Highland comes to mind. Of course, there is also the High Museum of Art, the botanical gardens, and the reportedly epic Georgia Aquarium. By no means am I too cool to be wowed by nature. I'm even thinking about becoming a Hawks fan.
It's early, yes, but I am looking forward to it and I hope that I can find some co-conspirators for some pre-orientation outings. Can't wait to meet y'all.

Melton's App & Tap. So good!
They make *the* best hot brownie with ice cream dessert. Their nachos are spectacular too.
Its down North Decatur from school - right before Scott Blvd.

Does anyone know when they will send out the papers for Stafford loans? I called the financial aid office and they jut said "sometime during the summer." I'm beginning to worry I missed something important.

Congrats to those getting in off the wait list!
If anyone is in town and interested in meeting up for coffee/drinks/food/etc., feel free to message me -- perhaps we could put together a happy hour?

Well, a number of you seem interested - how about we meet up later on tonight? Perhaps Virginia Highland - Fontaine's - say 8pm. There are a number of nice spots within walking distance to which we could venture.
Any takers? Feel free to PM me with questions and/or suggestions.

Hey everyone--I am finally settling down after a few hectic days of moving. Is anyone interested in meeting up for a beer this weekend?
