There are NO direct buses to W&L. I went to visit the school when they invited me to the Preview Day in October and I ended up driving the 6 1/2 hours it takes to get there. Also, if you want to fly there are NO airports in Lexington. If I'm not mistaken the closest airport is in Roanoke (pardon my spelling) and you still have to drive an hour to Lexington. This was the only bad part, but go visit because you WILL fall in love with it. I did! If that is all that I can find wrong with it then screw it, I'm game! :D Let me know if you need any info in regards to driving because I live in NYC too.

Lexington is right off I-81 and I-64. From NYC, I don't know if it's easier to take 95 down to Richmond and take 64 west from there or if it's easy to get from NYC to 81. Either way, if you find one of these two interstates, you'll drive right to Lexington.

Anyone heard about scholarship info yet?

I got another letter the other day which was basically encouraging me to attend and check out the school etc. but nothing about scholly info IIRC.

Take I-81 no matter what time you go to visit. I-95 is a nightmare going south on almost ANY day and to get to it from NYC you'd have to come through DC/Northern Va. (bad idea).

I've lived in VA for 27 years, grew up near Lexington, and lived in Northern Va. for the past decade. I-81 is the way to go for ease and quickness.

What about flying? I'd love to be able to get away with not renting a car (being under 25 does not make that fun), is there an airport close enough to grab a taxi from?

Maybe the train?

Got my scholarship offer today renewable contingent on a 3.0. About half-isn't too shabby, especially since I applied after their Dec 31 suggestion. More would, of course, be better.

I'm in the same boat, was hoping for a bit more too, I wonder how much it hurt us to apply after the suggestion

Will likely attend the ASW in March. The $ offer now has me gravitating towards W&L, yet it's early in my cycle.

edit: spelling

I'm leaning considerably towards this school at the moment all things considered. I think I can hedge my bets on the new third year program. If it works out, then the school could move back up the rankings. If it doesn't work out, the worst that could happen is a transition back to the previous curriculum before I even make it to the third year leaving the rankings hovering. Now I just need to figure out a way to get to Lexington for ASW.

Has anyone that got their acceptance @ Mid January got scholarship info? I got nothing thus far, and while I love W&L, I got really good offers from similar schools. Do you guys now if they match scholarship offers from other schools?

Hi guys! I've lived in VA my whole life, currently attend undergrad about an hour away from Lexington, and have several close friends who go to W&L Law so I visit Lexington quite often, so if anyone has any questions/concerns, I can try my best to address them.

Wow, called the financial aid office today to check on some GI Bill information and the director asked if I had received any scholarship information. I told her that I hadn't, so she checked her spreadsheet of admitted students and guess what? My name was not on the list. She asked me if I was sure I had been admitted to Washington and Lee. My heart sank for a second. I assured her that my status checker said admitted and that I had recieved a letter of acceptance and several letters from different faculty members congratulating me. I was freaked for a second.

I hope I hadn't missed out on some scholarship offers because of someones clerical error in the financial aid office. That would be really screwed. I started thinking that maybe I hadn't really been admitted, maybe it was all in my head, so I rechecked my acceptance letter to make sure it was from the Law School and not from the undergrad university. I think that I had gotten accepted so early in the process (early Nov) that I might have just gotten lost in the shuffle.

I'm going to have to check myself now.

Just an FYI. My wife and I will likely be attending the March ASW. We live in Fairfax, VA and will be driving down (probably that Thursday evening but maybe that Friday morning depending on schedules). I drive a subaru station-wagon and I could fit two other people comfortably, maybe 3 (if they're cool with sharing a backseat and had light luggage).

So if anyone doesn't have a car, and can get to the D.C. area (airports are dulles and reagan), we could offer you a ride down for the weekend and back up to D.C.

PM me if anyone is interested. I'll go in order of messages received.
