Every big firm in Boston has attorneys from Suffolk. On the other hand, it is certainly more difficult for them. I applied, but have not heard back. I doubt a will enroll there after getting scholarships from higher ranked schools, but you can do well there for sure. Suffolk is highly regarded in the region.

Anything else you are an expert on? There are Cooley grads that have done really well too. But we call them exceptions. For the most part, Suffolk grads pay 40k+ a year to earn 45k afterward.

Reasonable is spot on with this statement. Those grads that you see in the big firms, for the most part, fall into two categories:reasonable_man wrote:barkingbug wrote:Every big firm in Boston has attorneys from Suffolk. 1. Top 5% of class and law review OR,
2. Over 30 years old with much experience.
I know Suffolk very well (my undergrad) and I really don't have anything positive to say about either the law school or the undergrad.

HMM argument with no evidence, I see a pattern on TLS.....reasonable_man wrote:barkingbug wrote:Every big firm in Boston has attorneys from Suffolk. Re: Suffolk Class of 2013
Suffolk places such a small percent of its graduates into biglaw that it isn't even represented in most of the data kept on these figures. Moreover, midlaw in boston is small, competitive and typically reserved for grads of the Boston-bigs (BU BC). Government jobs in boston pay very low wages and are VERY hard to come by (in a good economy). Federal Jobs are nearly impossible for most graduates to obtain out of school, nevermind a median-rider at a TTT. Most Suffolk grads work at small 2-10 attorney firms. Salaries at firms of that size range from 35 to 50k if you're lucky. This isn't speculation, its fact.

Which is the furthest thing from the truth.tram988 wrote:Absolutelyboardercms wrote:thats assuming the OP wants to do biglaw
So, while I welcome constructive comments, remarks of congratulations, and earnest advice, this thread isn't for people who want to be unduly critical of those who generally want to attend Suffolk Law and/or have different career aspirations than Biglaw. You (the general you) don't know our aspirations so, please, don't assume them to be the same as yours.

I'd rather not clutter the thread up further with you telling me how I'm automatically going to fail, no matter what I say.reasonable_man wrote:OK. Has anyone heard about an ASW/ASD?

Re: Suffolk Class of 2013
I actually visited Suffolk yesterday. When I asked them about their ASD, they said that they were working on planning their event and should have an email sent out in mind-to-lar Feb or early March. Their ASD should be late March, around the 26th.oberlin08 wrote:Has anyone heard about an ASW/ASD?

Accepted a couple weeks ago. Not sure if I want to stay in Boston again since the cost of living is high, but I am waiting to hear back on scholarships. Already seen the campus, so doubt I'll be at their ASD.

Re: Suffolk Class of 2013
I just got accepted to Suffolk as well and Im deciding between Suffolk and New York Law School. Suffolk seems to have a better regional reputation. But I'm a little concerned with all the negative comments on this page. Are they all true? I am definitely an over achieving student (I'm just graduating from college now) so I know if I really push myself i could be in the top 10% of the class, but is suffolk really no that competitive with BC and BU?

Re: Suffolk Class of 2013
Do not listen to any of the negative comments about Suffolk. There are many Suffolk law grads who have went on to become very successful. And I also just got accepted...strongly considering attending as it is my first choice.

Thought you would all like to see this scene from "The Departed". Matt Damon's character in this movie is a Suffolk Law student.
