I have a Simpson Thacher callback that was scheduled on Sunday for August 16 so I don't think it's unusual. Firms are doing lots of OCIs right now and so the competition to book up callback spots is intense and firms book up pretty far in advance I think, especially the more popular firms.

I had a callback at Sidley LA last week, and was told I wouldn't hear back until after their "callbacktackular" on Monday. (But I also did a terrible job answering some pretty straightforward, typical interview questions, so I think it's possible they'd make an exception for someone they really wanted.)

Don't sweat it. I think we all feel like we screwed up at these things. Thanks for the info. I was also at the callback night last week and really liked the people. Hoping for some good news next week. I'll keep the hope alive.

Does anyone know what the average timeline is for callback offers? I was told before OCI that SoCal can take well into September, but it sounds like many people here have heard back within a week or so of their screener.

I think even though CA is a little slower than NYC, the general consensus is if it's been > 1 week since the screener, the odds are pretty low. I think some firms do have a "waitlist" of sorts where, if their initial top candidates don't accept an offer, they'll pull from a waitlist to give additional callbacks, but I think for the most part if you haven't heard within a week the odds of getting a CB are low.
