Were you invited to Cleary's callback reception tomorrow before you received the offer?

Poster from above - Cleary CB was Thursday, offer yesterday (Monday). I was invited to the callback reception between getting the callback invite and actually doing the callback.

Has anyone heard back from Sidley LA after one of their callback events last week?

Hope offers are rolling in for everyone, but if you aren't doing as well as you'd like or think you're going to strike out, just want to say to remember the process can be so random, and some firms are cutting back hiring this year. Don't take it too personally, this does not determine your worth. And anyway there's still time to apply to more places directly. Pretty much every CLS student is a great candidate for some good firm. Remember OCS is there for you to talk about interviewing and what other firms you can apply to.

Yes! Stay strong. Remember, it only takes one.

It's always been the case - at any of the T13 - that a significant fraction of folks end up with only a single offer, and even more end up with only two offers. It doesn't feel great to have only a single offer - but those folks have succeeded. They haven't struck out.

Then, even those who actually strike out of EIP typically secure an offer not long after through mass-mailing. They don't typically advertise this scrambling to classmates, so from the outside it looks as if they didn't strike out.

So, every year the rising 2Ls go into EIP with the false impression that all you do is show up, and you'll be deluged with a dozen or more callbacks and at least a half dozen offers. It simply isn't true. Only a very few rockstars end up with that number of callbacks and offers. But even though the process is surprisingly rocky, it generally does work out in the end. Columbia's BigLaw placement numbers are real.

Does anyone know of any Skadden movement at Columbia? Saw that some people had been dinged in the regular thread but interviewed with them awhile ago and still haven't heard anything so trying to figure out what that means.

I know of people with pre-EIP offers, people who did EIP CBs and got dinged, and people who did EIP and got offers. Interestingly, it's all over the grade spectrum -- I know Kent people who got dinged at Skadden (and who got offers) and someone well below median who got an offer.

This is helpful - thank you! I’ll assume I’m an alternate or something along those lines.
