Interview Timeline for Small Boutique Firms
Wondering if there is a general timeline that small but boutique firms follow when it comes to the interview->hiring/rejection process. For reference, I'm specifically curious about NYC.

Associate at major market boutique (non-NYC, think ~30-100 lawyers). Our timeline varies, but it's not uncommon for it to take 6 weeks from first contact to offer/reject decision.

Just moved to a small, highly regarded lit boutique (dc office). 40-100 attorneys worldwide. Had a screener, callback the next week, offer less than 48 hours later.
Sometimes boutiques move quickly.

And what about from interview to final decision itself, do you think?Anonymous User wrote:Associate at major market boutique (non-NYC, think ~30-100 lawyers). Our timeline varies, but it's not uncommon for it to take 6 weeks from first contact to offer/reject decision.

So based on your experience, do you think your firm is the exception or the rule?Anonymous User wrote:Just moved to a small, highly regarded lit boutique (dc office). 40-100 attorneys worldwide. Had a screener, callback the next week, offer less than 48 hours later.

Well not sure about NY but in NJ small firms generally move quickly (~48 hours) if they want you.

I think it depends on what you’re using to define as boutique v small firm.
