Stay at NY V30 or Move to Florida Firm if Goal is Florida In House?

Post by Anonymous User » Fri May 24, 2019 11:35 pm

I'm currently a corporate midlevel at a V10 in NYC, with a job offer from a V30, also in NYC. I'm in a bad situation at my V10, which is what prompted me to apply to lateral. My end goal, at some point within the next 5 years or so, is to move to a good in house position in Florida - I have family there. I want to pay down my debt working at a firm for a while longer before going to house, though. All else being equal, would my chances of getting a good Florida in house job be any different if I accepted the V30 position, rather than applying for positions at law firms in Florida and working there a few years? From what I understand, I'd have a good shot at the top firms in Florida - GT, H&K, Akerman, etc.
