NYU LL.M. OCI 2019

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jan 23, 2019 1:25 pm

NYU’s Spring OCI has started, and I thought it might be nice to have a thread for people to report callbacks/offers/dings/etc.

I admittedly can't speak to Milbank/Gunderson in particular, but it's not uncommon for BigLaw firms to simply "ghost" applicants (particularly at OCI) instead of sending formal rejections. Even firms that send formal rejections often don't send them until weeks or even months later (I guess to give themselves a chance to change their mind about how many folks they want).

I think there's still a good chance you'll hear back if it's only been two business days. When I went through OCI (admittedly J.D. OCI, not LL.M. OCI, but I can't imagine the timelines are that different), my friends and I got CB invites anywhere from the same day (very rare) to a full week later. It all depends on how quickly the interviewers turn in their evals and when the hiring committee meets.

Tax LLM. Had screeners with Sidley and Proskauer via listings. Both were scheduled within days I submitted the application. I also had interviews with some V100.

T14 JD with above median but no honors. Most likely also just above median at tax LLM for first semester but no honors (3.5 something)

OCI callbacks with EY DSG and Deloitte Int Tax. Both were scheduled within a week of OCI and conducted a few days later (Deloitte doing callback interviews now). I was told by both that offers will be going out soon.

Assuming dings for most since I haven't heard back. Still, it looks like firms are hiring.

I also had a Proskauer screener. I thought it went well, but have not heard back, so please update here if you do. I'm not sure, but I think 3.5-something is pretty far above the median at NYU (I think the median is closer to 3.3). Anyway, please keep us informed and good luck!

Kind of weird...I haven't heard of anyone getting a Mofo callback and it sounded like they wanted to hire 2.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
