Best way to get 30 hours of pro bono fast.

Post by Madmax » Wed Jan 09, 2019 7:12 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a bunch (30-35) of pro bono hours quickly, either online or in the D.C. area? I am stalled out getting my admission certification in D.C. due to the shutdown, so I am trying to get an N.Y. application in as soon as possible as an alternate, and N.Y. has that 50 hour pro bono requirement. I know the shutdown "might" be over in a few days, but I have been working toward getting barred in N.Y. anyway and now I have reason to expedite.

I greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks.

You could try emailing folk art various legal aid offices in DC and LAJC in NoVa to see if they have any lawyers needing legal research? Do you have litigation experience? If so, you might offer to draft fillings.

Both could probably be done entirely or mostly online.

Maybe reach out to folks at your law school to see if you could oversee some law students on something or work alongside them on some projects.

Contact any legal aid org--I did mine at an org in Boston that helps applicants with citizenship applications--they also had a sister org in a neighboring state and my friend did his hours there in like a week by helping all day. You got this!
