3L Grades Min Requirement if Already Offer?
Do firms usually have a minimum grade graduation requirement/minimum grade maintenance? Nothing in my offer letter says so... I'm not trying to cruise over 3L, but been dealing with a lot of personal things this semester and not feeling good about upcoming finals (will pass, but wont get honors or As)

3L grades do matter... but only for lateraling as a junior, or applying to clerkships, or applying for academic positions. They won't matter at all for returning to your summer firm (it's extremely unlikely any lawyers will even know what your 2L/3L grades are - the firm just cares that you get your J.D.), and won't really matter for lateraling as a midlevel/senior.Anonymous User wrote:No one cares. 3L grades also matter at many firms for getting into in-demand practice groups or for getting desirable assignments in your first year.

I could see it mattering for practice group selection because that's an administrative decision but wouldn't this mean that rank and file partners have access to your grades? I know partners at my firm can access past summers' resumes but I don't think they have their transcripts or even updated copies of their resume on file.Anonymous User wrote:Is this really true? But don't everyone starts off as a general idea first? And based on how good you do on projects, then get assigned to specific groups? How would grades play a part?
