2018 Grad: Got an offer but don't know if I want it

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Oct 12, 2018 1:16 pm

T1 Grad

Got an offer to go in house at a Commercial Real Estate company, but I don't know whether I should take it or not. The majority of the work would be doing leasing work. While the opportunity sounds pretty unique and would potentially open some doors in the future if I wanted to do real estate work at a firm. I just don't know that I'm in love with it. I've always been more into litigation and that is what my internships and clinic work focused on. I'm afraid doing this would foreclose from eventually doing litigation. At the same time, I don't know if I am in the position to turn down solid offers in this market.

If you don't have any other offers on the table, you should take it and keep looking. You've already graduated; you don't want to end up with an ugly gap on your resume. (Ofc, having money coming in would also help with your finances!)

I'd take it unless you have other offers on the table. The longer the resume gap here, the harder it'll become to find work. IMO, not having any job probably closes more doors for the future than having a job you're not in love with.

It is ten times easier to explain why you want to switch jobs than why you have no job at all. If you have no job, and no other offers, then you would be insane to turn down a paying gig in favor of unemployment.
