Wachtell takes post-clerkship laterals from T50 schools (top of their class, but still, the idea they are only recruiting from T6 is laughable).

The choice should come down on what kind of work you want to do. Wachtell lit is going to be heavy on securities and M+A/shareholder litigation (they obviously are strong in other practice areas but this is their specialty). They are also stronger in white collar.

Boies is more all over the map, but something that you will get there but not at Wachtell is plaintiff’s side securities and antitrust litigation work.

In terms of exit ops, Wachtell will be stronger into in-house roles or government. Boies will be stronger if you want to go the boutique litigation route.

FWIW I’ve known a few people at each firm. Those who worked at Wachtell have stayed longer. It might be just that the folks I knew at Boies are a little less “corporatey” if that makes any sense.
