Weird question, if a firm partner calls you with an offer, how long until you get the offer email?

A week, 10 days at most. If you don't hear back in that time frame, keep on them. Once you get the phone offer, it's in HR's hands, and they are liable to lose paperwork (ask me how I know...)Anonymous User wrote:Weird question, if a firm partner calls you with an offer, how long until you get the offer email?

Re: NY Offers
I got a verbal offer for a full-time job at a law firm during my 2L year (I did night law school), and I thought it would take like 2 or 3 days max to get the written offer. A week later, I sent an email to the HR person who was supposed to be sending me the offer. Dead silence. Another 3 or 4 days later, I sent an email to the HR person, cc'ing the partner who gave me the verbal offer. Dead silence. Another few days later, I called the HR person and left a message. Silence.Anonymous User wrote: Haha How do you know? I thought it was gonna come like the same day.
At the 3 week mark, I called the partner who gave me the verbal offer, and he said that he missed my email and thought I had declined the offer. He didn't even realize that they were having issues on their end and said that he'd follow up. Mind you, I'm trying to figure out when to give my notice at my current job and it's the middle of finals week, so I'm more than a bit stressed out.
Anyway, he got back to me the next day and said that the HR person had suddenly quit her job, and that the remaining HR person hadn't yet gone through the stacks of paperwork she left behind. He told me to be patient and to let him know if I hadn't heard from HR after another week and a half. Well, I was about to call him after the week and a half when the written offer came through. 4.5 weeks between verbal offer and written offer. The whole time, I'm thinking "what the hell am I getting myself into?"

Jeez wow. Well, I sent an email today to the HR person just to get the ball rolling. She usually is a speedy responder, but nothing yet. I’ll keep at it. Thank you for sharing the experience!totesTheGoat wrote:I got a verbal offer for a full-time job at a law firm during my 2L year (I did night law school), and I thought it would take like 2 or 3 days max to get the written offer. Can firms simply ghost you after callback interviews?
