GULC OCI partial bid list

Post by UnemployedHoya » Wed Jun 20, 2018 12:26 pm

Let's try this again. Can someone comment on this partial bid list? Low GPA so looking for big classes and/or flexiblity on cut offs. Which ones am I missing? Which ones should not be here a all? Which should I move up or dowm?

Info: GULC, URM (latino, lgbt), 3.09, above average legal experience pre-law school (though not extraordinary). Great personality (or so I've been told by my mom).

Thanks!

I mean, the list is better in that you're targeting NYC with more realistic firms now, but you're still in a pretty bad hole.

A lot of the firms on the top of your list have pretty small classes, and your GPA is like bottom 20% bad, at a school that already has hundreds of people trying to do BigLaw.

I wouldn't be surprised if you strike out.

No clue why you have Holland & Knight DC on there. They usually take literally 1 or 2 summers. Agreed that the London firms also make zero sense.

Lets be real here OP- you are in a bad position grade wise. You are a prime candidate to strike out. You need to put your full effort on not selective NYC firms with HUGE summer classes. Any other bid is likely a waste. You can and should still mass mail the dc, boston, chicago, and even London offices, but OCI needs to be focused on the huge NYC summer classes to have a shot,

Fried Frank should be significantly higher.

I will move firms with bigger classes (e.g. Fried, Greenberg) to the top. Can you think of any others I should move/add? GULC wasn't great at providing us with class sizes and I haven't found sizes for specific offices online (just combined number of all offices). Thanks!

Moving Morgan and Greenberg up. Why should I remove Winston? The info GULC gave us makes it seem like they're flexible but if that isn't the case (outliers) please let me know so I can remove it. Thanks!
