not complaining, but was expecting 25+ based on previous years' threads. i think maybe I underperformed because i have a bunch of PI experience before/during law school pigeonholing me.

Good luck everyone! I’m sure it will go well. I remember being incredibly nervous for my first interview, but you get into a rhythm after that and you’ll be a pro of talking about yourself by the end of the week.

My one piece of advice that led to 10+ callbacks and offers: go to the hospitality area and talk to the attorneys sitting behind the table right before your interview with that firm. It’s always a good thing to meet as many attorneys as possible from a firm where you may end up working, but more importantly, it’s a GREAT icebreaker for the actual interview and a great answer to the “why did you bid for our firm” question that I probably got 10-15 times. I always said something along the lines of, “in addition to x, y, and z reasons, I just had a great conversation with [associate name] at the hospitality table”. Almost every time I did that, the attorney interviewing me seemed to relax and the conversation shifted from being formulaic questions about my resume to casually being about the associate I mentioned or the general craziness of the OCI process.
