Aye! UST only checked one of my references--that I know of. Also, the UST component disappeared on the status checker, so hopefully we find out sooner than later on finalist selections. Good luck!
Hey, thanks for this! But I don't know what you mean by the UST component disappeared on the status checker?!?!? :?:

It means when I check my application status in avue central, UST doesn't show up. I interviewed with OCIJ and UST and the OCIJ information is up, but the UST information is gone. Can you still see UST in the "selected by" section in avue central?

Yes, but I only applied to the one component. Nothing has changed. It still says selected for interview. What’s it all mean :| :|

Finalist for EOIR OCIJ and EOIR Office of Policy.

Really wish I knew how many alternates are out there vs. who gets a first-round offer.

Not a finalist for EOIR Office of the Director.

Stats:
-Top 60-80 law school
-Top 10-20%
-LR (non flagship)
-Did Moot Court
-no prior EOIR experience, but externing at OIL this semester
-3 years prior experience in Fed Gov't and international organization

Does anyone know from any source or experience how many alternates they pick for CRM-AFML if you are a finalist? Last year, they picked finalists on Thursday and on Friday they finished their hiring...

Same, waiting for my offer (or waiting until I find out I’m not getting one) is going to be the death of me

For the USTP office, did they give you the geographic location? My status changed to finalist but no offer yet

This may actually be worse than waiting on the status change.

Congrats my friend! I was named a finalist, but no offer as of yet. Did you indicate an area of the country you'd like to work in the interview? I expressed an interest in the western United States.

From reading past years threads re OCIJ, I think the consensus is that if you had your references checked before or immediately after being designated a finalist then you're probably getting a first round offer. However, there were some people who got offers without having their references checked but it seemed to be later on in the cycle so I guess take it all with a grain of salt?

For those that asked about locations re: the USTP offer, I don't remember talking specifically about location in the interview, but I must have either there or the application, as the phone call discussed getting me into a compromise regarding:

1) where they have the most need (apparently midwest), or
2) where I wanted to go (not the midwest).

They offered a few cities, and were open to negotiation.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
