Any BIA updates? Have your component codes disappeared?

Sincerely,
Panicked

Interviewed on November 2 and none of my references have been checked. Should I be worried?

Can people whose component codes have disappeared confirm if that has ultimately meant anything? Did you end up getting an offer afterwards?

both excellent questions
I have not had my references checked...

Ya me neither, I'm assuming that's not a good sign. Oh well.

Sorry if I missed it, but if you're a first-round offer candidate, should you expect to hear soon after the finalist designation? Or does it vary too much by component to say?

Any idea what percentage of "Finalists" are actually alternates?

OCIJ (sorry I forgot there were sub components!)

[quote="Anonymous User"]finalist for OIL - DC and OCIJ are up[/quote

Does it distinguish between alternate and finalist for OCIJ?

Sorry if this has been answered, but I guess I don't understand the finalist designation. If your references have been checked, is there a reason there would be a gap from finalist to offer? (Other than that you're an alternate.)

From Deana:

Finalist updates HP& SLIP
Hi, all:

We've been receiving updates from components over the past 24 hours. Some are still due out, so don't panic.

As of now, here's what has been posted. Please bear in mind that all components formally participating in either Program have until close of business tomorrow to select finalists. Updates are posted after my office clears candidates for possible offers.

Please also bear in mind that the status display is controlled by the most advanced status, so if you are a finalist for two components, one issues an offer, and we update, then the code for the other component that designated you a finalist disappears. That does NOT mean you are not still a finalist for the other component. It just means that the "offer issued" status is linked to the component or components that have issued an offer.

FOR THE HONORS PROGRAM:

USAO, Central District of California
USAO, District of Arizona
USAO, Southern District of New York
USAO, District of Arizona (has met hiring goal)

Civil Division
- OIL-Appellate
- OIL-District Courts
- Federal Programs
- Appellate Section
- Consumer Protection
- Commercial Litigation

Tax Division (both Civil and Criminal)

EOIR
- OCIJ
- OD
- OP
- OGC

SUMMER LAW INTERN PROGRAM

Folks, quite honestly, these are coming in piecemeal. My advice is to check periodically to see whether there are updates. We'll do our best to get it all updated by Monday.

Question and Response from Avue

Question to Deana
Re: Finalist updates HP& SLIP
By "some are still due out" do you mean that for the components that you listed, such as Tax, it is still possible for our status to change to finalist in the next few hours, or if it has not until now, we are not a finalist for sure? Thank you!

Answer from Deana
Re: Finalist updates HP& SLIP
Yes, it is possible that a component I listed above will ID additional candidates, but I'd guess that over 95% of the ones I posted are finished.

Off the top of my head, HP hiring offices still due out completely are the Criminal Division, FBI, NSD, UST, probably others.

Bear in mind also that we receive requests throughout the year from components that find an unexpected vacancy, and candidates remain active for consideration after the formal fall cycle unless they affirmatively withdraw.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
