Withers Worldwide?
What's this firm like?
Culture? Compensation? (any difference among the offices?) Training? How is it regarded? Is the client-base solely HNWI? Is it mostly tax / trusts, estates & gift / family law?
Particularly interested in their NY/CT offices.

Re: Withers Worldwide?
It's a great firm if you are interested in tax/private client. Strong presence in Europe, although in the US only in the private client market. It's odd that their HQ is based in New Haven, given not much wealth being there.
I know an associate from the firm and they love it. Great work/life balance, lower billable hours, huge corporate and NHWI clients, and good pay. Salary is below market, but with the lower billable hours, it's about market pay if prorated.

Re: Withers Worldwide?
Interviewed with and got an offer from their NY office almost 2 years ago (corporate). If I hadn't decided to move to another state, I would've accepted. Their base pay is lower than market, but their billable requirement is also lower (I believe it was around 1,800 or 1,850, and a real number at that -- unlike at other firms where the actual billable requirement is a couple of hundred hours more than the official one).
From what I was told by the associates I spoke with, bonuses are given even to associates who don't hit the billable requirement (as long as performance merits bonuses). Additionally, if one does hit the billable requirement, the bonus structure is such that it would bring the total compensation close to market (at least to what market was at the time -- not sure about current compensation structure). Associates also got an additional bonus of a few thousand dollars if they timely entered and released all their time (at my current firm, it's more of the stick approach -- you get dinged a couple of hundred for each time you miss the deadline after you've exhausted a certain "allowance").
The people seemed great as well. More on point, in my experience, the firm moved very fast -- a total of less than a month between the time I was submitted to the time I received the offer, including less than a week from the callback to the time I received the offer.

Any news? I have a biglaw offer expiring soon, but I really want Withers. I've done 4 callbacks and Withers was the only place where ppl seemed genuinely happy!

Re: Withers Worldwide?
I would follow up when you have a few days left in your other offer and lay it on the table that you’ve been holding out for them but that you need to make a decision soon. Maybe other people disagree, but nothing really to lose in that situation.Anonymous User wrote:Any news? I have a biglaw offer expiring soon, but I really want Withers.
