If firms with comparatively modest PPP marks like Ropes and Goodwin (both around $2 million) are matching that means pretty much everyone in the V50 has got to match, I should think. (Not that it wasn't going to happen anyway.)

For this special bonus only, we will use an 1,850 hours threshold and will look at whether you have achieved this target based on your annualized hours for fiscal year 2018 through May 31, 2018. These bonuses will be subject to proration based on start date, part-time and leave arrangements.

Isn't it funny how "better work" is almost always synonymous with "bill more hours?" I find it total bullshit that firms try to pretend that it's about work quality and not quantity.Anonymous User wrote:NY office you get a full bonus no matter what. Other offices you're *very* likely to get a half bonus if you don't hit 1950. You will definitely get a full bonus if you hit 1950, even if half of that is pro bono. Other offices you also get bumps for "better work" (i.e. you bill a lot more than 1950, like 2300).Anonymous User wrote:No GDC office has an hours requirement for bonuses (1950 is unofficial). Maybe you're more likely to get a bonus with fewer than 1950 hours in the NY office (I have no insight into that, but if it were the case, it would be case by case).Anonymous User wrote: GDC compensation is the same across all US offices, although they've tried before to not do that. The only difference right now is that the NY office doesn't have an hours requirement for bonuses, but also doesn't get a bump for higher hours either.

Well, I guess you'll get a heads up if you should start thinking about a lateral move.Anonymous User wrote:Generally means you're not about to be fired.Anonymous User wrote:The firms keep saying they're giving bonuses to associates "in good standing." Can anyone shed light on what that means?

Re: NYC to 200k
At least you get a half bonus at sub-1950. At some firms you get *NOTHING* if you don't hit hours. There's no such thing as a partial-bonus at my firm--there are prorated bonuses if you took leave but no partial bonuses.Anonymous User wrote:NY office you get a full bonus no matter what. They are always late movers. They are probably waiting to figure out what they can get away with in terms of special bonus language (i.e., see what Latham does).Anonymous User wrote:What the fuck are they waiting for? Yeah this peer-firms-playing-chicken thing is pretty tiresome. Latham’s waiting for GDC who’s waiting for Latham.

Big DC firms like Cov, WH, A&P, Hogan, W&C*.Anonymous User wrote:Cadwaladerjd20132013 wrote:what notable firms have failed to match?
Some Texas firms like V&E and Baker.
GDC and Latham per discussion above.
Milbank & Winston are behind the times.
The rest of the magic circle.
Probably missing something here, not an active jab at firms not listed.
