I know this a pretty specific question, and that each office will be different, but I am stressing about it. I am currently in the last 6 months of my COA clerkship. I have been interviewing with AUSA offices and have at least 3 final round interviews upcoming. I know it is entirely possible that I get zero (I already struck out at 2 or 3 other offices) and I shouldn't count my chickens. But I also have expiring firm offers. Clearly, I will have to accept one. Ideally, I'd like to spend a bit of time at the firm before starting AUSA so as not to be totally ridiculous.
If I receive an offer in the next 2-3 months, how long until my initial background check allows me to start working? I've heard 5-6 months and I've heard 3-4 weeks. Would sort of prefer the longer but am just trying to figure out what best to do since I will need to accept a firm offer, move, sign a lease, etc.
