1L, but advice I was given was be very careful with this, and if you are trying to demonstrate ties to an area that likes ties, applying to multiple offices could make your ties questionable. also portal = no, email = maybe, since a portal is seen by every office (this is what i was told, not sure if 100% accurate)

Patent agent, T1 school in one of their main offices’s markets, so that kinda sucks, but such is life. Never even sent in grades yet, but i think I sent in a UG transcript with a GPA in the low 3s so maybe that’s it.
Same. Not a patent agent but have several years of patent related experience. Haven't gotten grades back yet either.

Accepted an offer with a firm that has a fairly short (6 week) SA program. Does anyone know if it's frowned upon to only work for half a summer? And, if so, does anyone know of any types of legal positions (PI, gov, etc) that would start in July or have flexible dates? Seems like everything I'm coming across starts in May

See if you can get an RA position with a professor for the rest of the summer. That'll be the easiest to get and easiest to manage with your SA.

Thanks! I'll take a look at my school's site for openings. Do you think the 6 vs 8 week thing is likely to come up/be an issue at OCI if I were unable to secure anything else?

Not at all. SAs can vary depending on the firm, and it's a pretty simple answer when you explain that is their program. The entire point of the 1L summer is to get substantive experience, and you'll get that with the SA and an RA if you choose to take one on.

Keep in mind OCI is basically a 20 minute conversation where the person interviewing you wants things they can easily ask about. Your SA will give that. If you do some RA work, that won't hurt. And depending on the rest of your credentials, that should be enough to get you the CB stage. Be ready for the same, superficially interesting conversations over and over and over again. If you sell your interest in them and/or their firm, you'll find success.

Has anybody heard anything from ATL and/or NC firms as far as interviews/screeners or even just rejections? I applied to some firms on December 1 but also some after the new year. The only firm I’ve heard back from is an Alston & Bird screener. Anybody progress for any one else? Does this region usually wait for grades? I go to a T-10 and I have pretty solid ties to both markets for what it’s worth.

Anyone get a response back? I emailed saying I'm available at X time. Have not heard back.

Does everyone who applies to the Skadden 1L Scholars Program get a prelim interview? Should I take the fact that I got one as a sign that I have a chance?

Pretty confident that they don’t interview/screen everyone that applies. Congrats! Mind sharing stats and which office you applied for?

No. They don't interview everyone. There's a preliminary and callback interview. It's a good sign but you still have a long ways to go before getting an offer -- try your best and don't look back.

How worried should I be if I haven't heard anything from Skadden yet? How late should I assume that I won't be getting any sort of prelim interview?

Is the prelim interview in-person or over the phone? Or are there two in-person interviews?

Cuz I got an interview and I'm being asked to go directly to their office to meet attorneys

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
