Is not drinking at social events a reason to get no offered if you still go and socialize ?

This would be an absurd reason to no offer someone since there are plenty of people in the world who don't drink for various reasons. I wouldn't worry about it at a large firm. I know nothing about small firms- although common sense tells me it generally shouldn't be a problem.Anonymous User wrote:Is not drinking at social events a reason to get no offered if you still go and socialize ?

And yet, I saw multiple summers in our most recent class fail at most if not all of these seemingly simple requests -- all still got offers.1) Treat the attorneys you work for as if they were clients.
2) Be constantly available (answer all your emails promptly).
3) Be very, very polite to support staff and never think you are better than anyone at the firm.
4) Never be the drunkest SA in the room and never become known as the "drunk SA."
5) Don't act like you are part of the club yet, you will be part of the club when you are hired.
6) Be. A. Normal. Person.
Not to suggest that you shouldn't aspire to hit these targets, but please also don't spend the next nine months worrying about this.

Nah...there were Muslim & Mormon SAs in my class that didn't drink a drop -- heck the Muslim SAs couldn't eat at all during summer lunches because of Ramadan - had zero impact on their final evaluation (all got offers).

Saw a no/cold offer this last year because no one liked a Summer's work product and the summer argued with at least one mid-level about how to do things.
I think crummy work is a pretty good path to getting no/cold offered.
Also, we know being a summer is a bit like camp, but put the work first. Don't go on lunches you don't have time for.
