Equal Justice Works 2017 Conference and Career Fair

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Sep 09, 2017 1:38 pm

Didn't see a thread, so figured this would be it.

When I registered, I never said what dates I would be there (or times). I'm assuming that there's no option to say, "only interviewing for Friday" ? I'm planning on being there the entire conference, but making sure I didn't miss somewhere to say what my schedule is....

To my understanding, you don't register for a specific date. When you are offered an interview with an organization, you then select the date/time you want -- as long as the employer is there that day!

So, are other folks hyped about this?

I also have not heard anything back yet. This is my first time going to EJW, but has anyone heard anything back about interviews? It has been silence on my end.

Last year I didn't hear anything until the deadline and then I got a bunch of texts saying I had been accepted to interview. So don't worry about not hearing yet.

Same. It's actually one of my top choices. I think I might have gone a little crazy with the apps but ... cast a wide net, right?

Thanks for the response. I am still hoping I'll hear back from somewhere. I'll take no ding at this point as good news.

Since there is one 2L who can confirm an interview acceptance, and 3Ls reporting back on CA offers, I am hoping those looking for full-time employment will hear back about the status of their interview requests soon.

I'm still learning the forum. That was me. I got a second acceptance today from a Federal Office in Baltimore. Here's hoping you hear something soon!

Dinged at King County.

Really bummed about this.

Has anyone heard of people applying to PD offices directly if they don't get an interview at EJW? Is that frowned upon?

Edit: ***To help others out, I was applying for full-time employment. Not a 3L, but an alum.

Definitely not frowned upon, at least in my experience. Plenty of my 3L classmates have done just that and gotten interviews and offers.

Thanks! I know competition can be rough, so I want to try every avenue available since they are definitely a top choice for me!

also dinged full time. Kind of disappointed especially since I had already talked to them...

I feel your pain. I just checked the website and it seems the window to apply directly closed 6 days ago...if I had realized that, I would have thrown in a separate application. Either way, I'll try to drop off some materials with them.

I just hope this doesn't set the tone for all my other apps.

On another note, has anybody been previously? What's the deal with bringing resumes and writing samples? I don't want to look like an idiot carrying around a bunch of pieces of paper. Anybody brought them and had it work to your advantage? Or vice versa?

Won't look like an idiot at all, bring a folder or something to carry them in and you'll fit in. Bring extras for table talk.

EJW is pretty insane experience, you can hear the people interviewing next to you, it's in a huge room.
