17 interviews down, 0 CBs--anyone else with 0 CBs?
I gave it my all and feel like a failure. Can anyone relate?
Thanks to everyone for keeping EIP classy and positive despite all the stress.
2 more days to put on game face and hope that something changes.

Which market are you in? Some definitely move faster than others, so don't get too discouraged yet. Also, OCS is phenomenal and really invested in helping you succeed, so I'd go in early tomorrow and talk to them when they'll have the most time to help you plan if you need to add any interviews, talk about how previous ones have gone, and do a mock interview if you need it.Anonymous User wrote:17 interviews down, 0 CBs--anyone else with 0 CBs?

Thank you for the encouragement! SF/SV/LA. Did high school in LA, but no regional ties on resume (college in New England, 1L summer in DC; parents abroad). I have 1 H and targeted lower ranked firms. How are you all closing your interviews? I tend to thank the interviewer and then say something along the lines of "it was great meeting you," "have a great rest of the day," or some other friendly but awkward goodbye. Maybe I need to learn to close? How do you EIP whizzes close?Anonymous User wrote:Which market are you in? Some definitely move faster than others, so don't get too discouraged yet. I have a legitimate explanation for the grades, but no explanation can take away the shock value of my transcript.
what firms might be forgiving and take a chance on me?

Re: HLS EIP 2017
I've heard those markets are a bit slower than NY, so don't panic. I'm far from an EIP whiz, but I wouldn't overthink the closing. An enthusiastic "It was so nice to meet you, I hope to see you again!" or something to that effect should be just fine.Anonymous User wrote:Thank you for the encouragement! SF/SV/LA. Another 2L so take with a grain of salt. But if I were you I'd interview with as many as possible and address it directly in interview. Defer to OCS's advic, though.

Any chance of getting a callback at DPW if you didn't get the email?

I had both of these happen to me last year. Got a Gibson CB (and later offer) after not getting a dinner invite and then didn't get a CB from Baker Botts despite going to their dinner.Anonymous User wrote:Also, does no dinner invitation at a firm that does dinner equal no CB?Anonymous User wrote:Does dinner invitation after the interview equal to a CB? I dozed off and missed one such invitation...kind of panicking right now
I wouldn't read too much into it.

How worried should I be if I'm bidding exclusively New York and only have one callback so far? Did a mock interview yesterday and OCS said I was fine. I have an interesting resume, 2H, 7P, 1LP.

Since a few people have PM'd me, here's some generalized advice:Anonymous User wrote:Fuuuuck what about Baker Botts. They sent me an email inviting me to a dinner after my interview but it went to my spam folder and I just now saw it. Did I blow it?
If you're interested in the the firm and are hoping to do a callback then I'd suggest sending an email to recruiting. Depending on how you felt about your interviews, you might also consider cc'ing the attorneys with whom you interviewed. Be honest about why you missed the dinner (spam, misread the email, etc).
There were people at my OCI who got BB callbacks without receiving dinner invitations, so I don't think you need to worry about missing it. The fact that you got the invite indicates that you're on track for a callback, and I don't think that missing the dinner will have any effect on that. Honestly I think it's like most firm events at Harvard in that it's designed to woo candidates rather than weed them out.
TDLR: Dinner invite probably means your on track for a CB, but it isn't necessarily a condition precedent. Similarly, missing the dinner shouldn't matter as long as you let recruiting know you're still interested in the firm.

Re: HLS EIP 2017
Thanks Pneumonia! In general, are the borderline candidates the ones typically invited for callbacks but not dinners? Wondering If there is a stronger correlation between grades and dinners than grades and CBs/offers. Sorry to bombard you with questions!Pneumonia wrote:Since a few people have PM'd me, here's some generalized advice:Anonymous User wrote:Fuuuuck what about Baker Botts.
