Low GPA for OCI
I am URM at CCN with a 2.9, Interview well and have good work experience. I have strong ties to Philly and weak ties to LA. I'd like to work in international transactions (this summer 1L job is in-house doing this), tax or general corporate transactions. How screwed by my GPA am I? Am stuck in NY or low paying firm in Philly? ideal location is LA or philly

Re: Low GPA for OCI
It just depends. A lot of BigLaw firms have strict GPA cutoffs that they really can't get around. It's always worth doing OCI; you never know what type of candidate they're looking for or what their application pool is looking like. Do you have any extracurriculars that you can harp on? Journals, moot court/mock trial, work experience? If so, I'd focus on them in your cover letter and make sure they're on your resume. Unfortunately, you may just get screened out due to the standards... Good luck!

Re: Low GPA for OCI
Philly is a lot less selective about grades than other secondary markets, especially if you're coming from a T13. You should be fine, especially if you expand your search out to DE (Philly ties count as DE ties and it's only 35 minutes away). If you're in Philly this summer, reach out to alumni working at big firms. You should be able to turn one of these into a callback. LA is probably out, so make sure you bid NY firms to be safe.
