In my experience, Austin offices can be very, very slow. I got a callback three weeks after my screener from BB/VE/NRF. I have a friend who got a callback four weeks later from one of the same firms.

Does anyone know the callback to offer ratio for any of the firms at OcI?

At the SMU OCI bootcamp one of the Hiring Partners said 50% and all the other hiring partners nodded in agreement so I suspect that's common. I believe it was V&E, Akin, Gardere, and Bracewell represented there.

Wait, how are there offers being given out already? It's still the first week. Was this based on the screener or pre-oci interviews?

Not at a Texas school, but I interviewed with several Dallas screeners at my OCI. How quickly does Dallas generally do things?

Depends on the firm. Also not at a Texas school (at MPVD), but was offered a callback from a non-native Dallas firm the day after my OCI screener.

Does anyone know if others are getting a CB that means a definite no. I'm an average competitor with 2 CBs so far and most firms I did have no known CBs. But for the ones that have does that mean a ding or just that I'm not a first choice.

From what I heard (admittedly through people in another section) the V&E offers were made as a strong exception & by partners.
More from the grapevine:
Andrews Kurth Kenyon CB
Sullivan & Cromwell CB

Lots of offers went out before OCI after pre-OCI callbacks. Not really callbacks because the firm just skipped the screener and did the in-office as a first interview. Not a big deal though because those are the star candidates who are getting offers at every major firm, who knows where they will end up.

The VE offer is not a strong exception. Maybe for Houston but VE Dallas had at least three offers out pre-OCI.

If we're talking Texas markets the Latham callback would have to be Houston

Latham callbacks go out the evening of your OCI screener.

Anyone have an idea of how CB waves work? Not a top student, so wondering when screener to CB timelines have been like in previous years.

Also interested about waves. So does not hearing from one of the above firms mean no CB?

Has anyone heard from any of the smaller firms that participate in OCI?

Definitely not. Callbacks can go out as late as mid-October. They go in waves until their summer class is filled. Many many people I know didn't even get their callbacks for the firms they now work at until three or four weeks after OCI. Don't lose hope any time soon.

My firm - which is one of the big Texas firms - does not give callbacks in waves. We decide on who gets a callback the evening of the interview which then needs to be approved by the hiring partner. We then send the invites out. We never go back and give more callbacks based on how many people accept their callback invite, etc.

Can I ask if you work at one of V&E/Baker Botts?

IME no. I got a callback from BB two weeks after my screener which I know meant I was a second choice but a CB is a CB. Maybe this is VE policy though?

This sounds like Latham. not the second poster quoted so I am not sure and this may be multiple firms, but Latham handles call backs in this manner.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
