Re: 2017 Texas OCI (UT/SMU/Baylor/UH + Others)
So if I have good grades (probably top 15-10%) at UT and LR, safe to assume I missed any firm I don't have a CB for yet?

Feeling worried. Only a few callbacks do far. Any chance for a few more?

Re: 2017 Texas OCI (UT/SMU/Baylor/UH + Others)
Yeah 100%. Try not to worry too much. Some firms will only start the callback process after they interview at each school they send people to. Yes, the general rule is that good news comes quickly and bad news comes later in the form of a rejection letter, but it isn't always true. Also, the key is to get a job. The best firm is the one that will give you a chance.

Now that callbacks/ offers are rolling - what is the state of the Houston market? Who are the top firms in 2017 and heading into the next few years? Who are the firms to stay away from?

Were you designated as a corporate or litigation summer?Anonymous User wrote:OP here. Kirkland Houston callback on Friday, offer today.Anonymous User wrote:Awesome, thanks! They didn't really give me a timeline on Friday. I know last year was much faster (as someone else said, a day or two tops). I guess this year, since they're already much bigger than last year, they are recruiting more people and thus interviewing more people, making it a longer process? Who knows.Anonymous User wrote:Just finished a Kirkland CB. Was told that offers would go out "early next week." So, I guess the timeline is roughly 7-10 days?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone have an average time for Kirkland Houston from CB to offer?
Had a CB on Friday and OCI starts next week. I'm hoping an offer (if its coming at all) comes early in the week so I can cancel most of my OCI screeners (at any firm I would choose KE over) to save me a lot of time and energy.
Good luck!

Well, congratulations! Hopefully I'll be joining you, offer-wise. I know all the litigation-designated summers were given callbacks two days later than the corporate ones here (Non-Texas school), since there are fewer spots available.Anonymous User wrote:Corporate. Did they give you a timeline on how quick you would hear from them post callback other than "soon," or have you heard from them yet?Anonymous User wrote:I did a CB with BB Houston. Nothing too different from other firms but I did note they are very proud of their conservative/quiet culture, the roots in the community, and the concept of the firm as institution with long relationships with certain clients. Some partners asked tougher questions about the energy industry but that was based on my expressing interest and them wanting to test me a little. Very similar to my other CBs.

A wise TLS sage once wrote:There are about a billion threads about post callback timelines. Stop trying to start some bizarre cavemanlike superstitions about recruting patterns and send some god damn job applications.
Also, you rejection letter is most likely waiting to be sent by a secretary, you'll get it in a week or two.

As long as they don't fill up too quickly lol. Because of time constraints, I wasn't able to set my callback with them until next week.Anonymous User wrote:Latham Houston has/is making offers.
