I get how mass-mailing works and the content of the email we should be using for that, but what are we supposed to say to connections we have in the firm if anything at all to get them to push our application vs. the recruiter/system?
Do we just ask them outright in an email to send our application in? It seems incorrect/impersonal to just send them the contents of a standard mass-mail but I'm also at a loss for what we should say to still get the ball rolling.

just ask to talk with them, over coffee if they're in town or over the phone if they're not, and make a human connection. and then hope they bring up asking for your resume. if not, you make the suggestion while talking to them. don't just cold email a resume to an alum or something.
