Nope. I had OCIJ finalist and then an hour later I got my other component listed as finalist.

Do you mind saying what the other component was?

Was that for Criminal Trial Attorney?
Yes

Were you able to check your status checker and confirm that it changed to finalist for you? (I have no doubt that it did but just want to see if they are jumping the gun or not)
Sorry - I'm combining all of the answers to questions in one response so it's clear it's the same anon. My status checker has not changed to finalist. It still says 'Selected for Interview'. One of my references let me know that he was contacted a couple of weeks ago.

Which branch checked your references if you don't mind saying. CLB checked my references, but now my status is finalist and only EOIR is listed. EOIR did not do a reference check.

Much appreciated. I interviewed for CRM Trial and OCIJ and it says Finalist for OCIJ but CRM is gone so I dont know if I am still in the running or not, but at this point I have yet to receive a phone call. How long ago did you get the call if you dont mind me asking? I assume you accepted! Congrats on the offer btw sorry I didnt get that out sooner lol.

From experience two years ago OCIJ contacted references a day after finalist designations went out.

Yeah I don't really understand the status checker so I haven't relied on it much. I got the call sometime this morning. My status checker as of now has not changed. Sidenote: I left my interview certain that I had bombed so if anyone is lacking confidence, you really never know what will happen!

Funny you say that, that is exactly how I felt after that interview also! LOL but seeing as how you got an offer and I have yet to hear anything, I am guessing you did much better than me! So I assume you said yes right? :) Congrats again, and if your status checker changes let me know, just want to know when its time to wave the white flag and accept fate.

I just received a finalist designation for two offices in the EOIR. If the rest of the offices in EOIR and also civil have disappeared, and I am not designated as a finalist, does that mean I am out of the running? Do all EOIR offices designate finalists at the same time? What about EOIR and civil?

What two offices in EOIR is you mind saying I am waiting on EOIR as well. Also, I do not believe that all EOIR offices make designations the same day as from previous postings on Avue in the Community section for last year finalist designations went out on different days for EOIR.

OCIJ is one of them, I'd rather not say the other -- call me paranoid.

From Deana on Avue:

Finalist Postings are in progress

Over the next few days we will be updating Avue to show finalist selections for components that formally participate in the HP or SLIP.

While updates are in flux, your "selecting component" identification on the "Status" screen may temporarily disappear.

The new status (finalist) will only reflect components that identified you as a finalist. As the components do not all make their changes at the same time, candidates who interviewed with more than one component should understand that the initial update is triggered when the FIRST component identifies him or her as a finalist -- if a second component identifies the candidate as a finalist, the display will change at a later time to add that component code.

We think that updates will be posted by early next week.

If your status does not change, then you are not a finalist.

Remember - finalists are both first round offer candidates and alternates.

Also from Deana on Avue:

Timing of Offers and Response Deadlines

Offer clearance requests are starting to arrive from the formal HP and SLIP participants, so this is a great time to remind you about the Departments policy regarding the time a candidate is afforded to respond to an oral offer. Please note that the Department follows the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) guidelines for issuing offers.

OFFERS TO CURRENT LAW STUDENTS:
a. Offers to current law students issued prior to December 15 must remain open for 28 days or until December 30th, whichever comes first.

(1) When issuing an offer, components can request that candidates reaffirm the offer within 14 days from the date of the offer. Employers that have requested this reaffirmation may retract any offer that is not reaffirmed within the 14-day period.

(2) Components requesting reaffirmation should provide candidates with information about who to contact and the form in which reaffirmation is requested (e.g., telephone, email).

b. Offers to current law students made after December 15 should remain open for at least two weeks.

OFFERS TO LAW SCHOOL GRADUATES:
o Offers to law school graduates should remain open for two weeks.

GENERAL INFORMATION APPLICABLE TO ALL OFFERS
o Components have the discretion to extend the response period.
o Generally, components provide basic salary information to applicants as a part of the oral offer.

HP salary guidance is posted at https://www.justice.gov/legal-careers/a ... d-benefits.

SLIP salary guidance is at https://www.justice.gov/legal-careers/s ... n-benefits.

Best of luck to all!

I hope she posts letting us know what specific components have designated finalists already.

While I'm very happy to be an OCIJ finalist, not knowing if I'm an alternate (and could potentially never get a rolling offer) has made me more anxious than I was this morning
