It does not necessarily mean that the court is full as some larger courts hire multiple clerks. Generally, from past experience the longer it takes for you to receive an offer after offers start going out the larger more desired courts (in big cities) probably will be filled and you are more likely to not to get your first choices if they were all courts in big cities. But you may be surprised and wind up liking where you are placed even if it was not one of your preferred choices.
my friend got an EOIR-OCIJ position cycle before last, and she got placed in a city not in her choices but one that she really enjoys and one that was nearby her first choice. if that helps..
My references still haven't been checked... Does that mean that I'm likely an alternate? How many offers do we think have gone out already?
I am in the same boat as you...

Yes, can you please provide specifics? Anxiously waiting for non-OCIJ. Any details are greatly appreciated.

Greetings, all:

I've just posted updates for various branches of the Civil Division's Honors Program hiring and sent messages to the affected applicants.

The branches listed below have completed their Honors Program hiring and will not issue further offers:

1. Office of Immigration Litigation (Appellate)
2. Commercial Litigation Branch
3. Torts Branch

The offices listed below have NOT completed their Honors Program hiring:

1. Appellate Branch
2. Office of Immigration Litigation (District Courts)
3. Federal Programs Branch
4. Consumer Protection Branch

I hope this information is helpful.

I haven't had my references called yet. So, unless none of us on here got an offer, I'd say they are just slow. #BeingOptimistic :?

I know OCIJ offers are rolling but I'm becoming more pessimistic by the day...

I've pretty much already decided I wasn't their first choice candidate / my cities weren't compatible with what their needs were and have moved my focus onto other job applications.

I wouldn't lose hope just yet! I just now got an offer from OCIJ, and I'm fairly certain none of my references have been checked.

San Antonio. I said I would go anywhere and ranked about 10 courts, but San Antonio wasn't one of them.

For people who have had an offer from OCIJ, how long did you get an offer after your references were checked? Mine were due on Monday and I'm anxiously waiting and refreshing my email... not even sure if references checked guarantee an offer.

I remember reading somewhere (anyone remember where it might've been?) that the bulk of offers would be made between Nov 22 and Dec 1, though that doesn't mean all first round offers would necessarily be completed by Dec 1.

I was given an offer at 4:30pm on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from OCIJ in the York, PA court. My references were checked the Friday before Thanksgiving. I plan on accepting. I listed 2 options: 1) Baltimore and 2) York.

I do wonder if I had only listed Baltimore whether they would have kept me around until both positions there were filled.

Good luck to the people who are still waiting!

Congrats! I am in similar dilemma I was hoping Arlington would be an option. I just couldn't commit to anything far outside of the DC area.

I'm sorry, am I understanding right that you have reason to believe they are hiring multiple spots for Baltimore? If so, how do you know? I'm also interested in Baltimore, but I saw at least one person has been offered a spot there already. I'd love to know if there's still a chance...

Also, congratulations on your offer!

I know there are two positions open in Baltimore because I interned there recently and there are two outgoing clerks. I also did see that someone had received the offer from Baltimore, but I don't know about the other opening. When I received my offer they gave me until December 26th to confirm or decline, so I think that means there could still be hope if the person who was offered that position declines. (I'm assuming an offer has gone out.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
