Look under GULC OCS's Applying and Interviewing page. It says you should definitely send them.

Not GULC but had a similar experience -- CWT interviews a TON of people. Shortly after your screener, you're either on the ding list or you're not. The people who work in recruiting must be swamped with ding emails waiting to be sent out. When you reach out they're merely updating you on your status as a courtesy. Be glad you dodged this bullet.
