Their Philly office has one 1L from Michigan returning, so it's unlikely that they will take more Michigan people.

Takeaways:
1. NYC is harder than you think if you have no Northeast in your resume. I realize most of the difficulties were due to poor grades, but lack of ties was another big factor.
2. I cannot emphasize mass mailing enough. I'd have no job if it weren't for hustle. OCI is a cruel mistress.
3. Secondaries, even ones you have ties to, will ding you for going out of region. I know people who had 3.6+ GPAs who got elite Chicago offers but got dinged in my secondary target market (even though they're from the area and I'm from the state I was targeting).

Yes. I sent my materials in and the firms invited me in for a callback straight away.

A little late, but figured it might help this year's class:

GPA: 3.50
WE: 2 years; professional, but nothing special.
Journal: Secondary
IP Background: None

Markets: NYC, Chicago, elsewhere
Screeners: 25 from OCI, 1 from pre-OCI networking
CB invites: 19 from OCI, 1 from pre-OCI networking
CBs accepted: 13
Offers: 10 (4 V10, 1 V20; all NYC, Chicago, elsewhere)

Grades are important, but they're just a threshold. 3.5 was enough to get a DPW screener via their hospitality suite.

The keys to OCI in my experience: smile, laugh, practice interviewing, dress the part (I bought a suit and shoes specifically for OCI), get a haircut, tell good stories about your experiences, act like a human.
